Terms of Service
Welcome to Composure. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Composure mobile application and any related services (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using Composure, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What Composure is — and isn't
Composure is an educational and self-help app for emotional well-being, drawing on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness research. It is designed to help you understand your reactions and build calmer responses to everyday situations.
Composure is not a medical device, not therapy, and not a substitute for professional mental-health care. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. If you are in crisis or experiencing a mental-health emergency, contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services immediately.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use Composure. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission.
3. Your account and progress
You can use Composure anonymously without creating an account. If you choose to enable sync, you'll provide an email address so we can save your progress and restore it on other devices. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for the activity that happens under your account.
4. Subscriptions and payments
- Composure is offered as an auto-renewing subscription, with pricing and trial details shown in the app before you purchase.
- All payments are processed by Apple via the App Store. By subscribing, you also agree to Apple's terms.
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.
- Refunds are at Apple's discretion and follow Apple's refund policy. We cannot issue refunds directly.
- If your country grants statutory cancellation rights for digital services, those rights still apply.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app, except to the extent permitted by law.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, our servers, or other users.
- Copy, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from the lessons or other content in the app.
- Use the Service to develop a competing product, train a machine learning model, or scrape data.
6. Intellectual property
The Composure app, including its lessons, illustrations, animations, text, audio, code, and branding, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular outcome will result from your use of it.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.
9. Termination
You can stop using Composure at any time by deleting the app and (if you've enabled sync) requesting account deletion. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates risk or legal exposure for us or others.
10. Changes to the Service or these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in-app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be heard in the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws give you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
12. Apple-specific terms
You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Composure only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content. In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, Apple's sole obligation (if any) is to refund the purchase price. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
